Her live-in boyfriend, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, left a Billy Joel concert at Nassau Coliseum early to be with Lee when he learned of her hospitalization.

Sandra previously revealed she had been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ – a common form of noninvasive breast cancer contained within the breasts’ milk ducts – during an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday, May 12. (Some information from the Associated Press.). It is a condition that puts her at risk of blood clots and the very same reason why the celebrity chef had to take blood thinners on long airplane rides. She knew something was wrong. Among her recent shows are “Sandra’s Restaurant Remakes” and “Sandra Lee’s Taverns, Lounges & Clubs”.

The source said that it isn’t safe to assume that mastectomy was the reason because the fluid build-up and the feeling of hotness usually indicate an infection.

“She’s a very upbeat person, but she was definitely thrown by this”, the source said. It’s some sort of fluid buildup and pain. Lee has an autoimmune disease and the source said that this could be due to blood clotting and not the procedure. Cuomo has cleared his schedule for the next few days to stay by Sandra’s side offering her a positive outlook and a calming effect.
