He also criticised Mrs Clinton’s husband, former US President Bill Clinton, for meeting privately with Attorney General Loretta Lynch earlier this week, which Ms Lynch later said she regretted, though she said they did not discuss the investigation.

Under pressure after she met privately with Clinton’s husband this week at his invitation, Lynch announced Friday that she expects to accept the recommendation of investigators and prosecutors at the FBI and the Justice Department as well as FBI Director James Comey, a Republican, in the case.
“Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was secretary”.
Clinton, who is considered the frontrunner to win the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, has faced criticism for using a private email server to conduct government business.
“I’m going to continue to put forth my record, what I have stood for, do everything I can to earn the trust of the voters of our country”.
A U.S. State Department Inspector General report released in May found Clinton didn’t follow proper department procedure. Lynch has said the meeting has no bearing on how the matter is being reviewed.

The presumptive Republican U.S. presidential nominee, Donald Trump, took to Twitter to express his views on the issue.
“And since she has not fully recused herself from this decision, I think it raises questions about political interference in this investigation”.
For Mrs Clinton, the interview indicates that the US Justice Department’s year-long probe is drawing to a close only four weeks before she is to be formally nominated as the Democrats’ choice to succeed President Barack Obama.
Armed with hundreds of pages of testimony, Clinton may well have been aware of her aides’ answers to the same lines of questioning that both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Judicial Watch were pursuing.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton points as she takes the stage before speaking to supporters at the Human Rights Campaign Breakfast in Washington, October 3, 2015.
“They said hello, they talked about grandkids”, Clinton said, calling the chat “purely social”. “After Clinton got off, they were like, ‘that wasn’t good.’ And I know from others who were in the actual auto with her that her people knew immediately the political ramifications of it and were very upset”.
The FBI probe and the partisan fight over the server have added an extra layer of uncertainty to one of the most tumultuous presidential races in recent memory.

The White House has maintained that the Justice Department is keeping politics out of the investigation, which is happening at the same time as Hillary Clinton’s run for office.
