The scary incident occurred at Macias Cellular & Computers in Victorville last Friday. The man quickly grabbed the girl’s arm and pulls her outside the store.
The mother, the store owner and another customer hear the girl’s screams and chase after the would-be abductor.
Surveillance video captured the moment a woman walks into a cell phone store with her young daughter, who stands a few feet away.
Ransom was jailed on charges of kidnapping and child cruelty after being evaluated at a hosptial. As he ran away, the mother ran after him.
But the man did follow the family, and grabbed the little girl by her arm.
The quick-thinking mum – still clinging on to her baby – chases after the crook and manages to wrestle her daughter back from his grip just outside the store as the criminal scarpers.
He tried to run off again but onlookers held him until police arrived. “Both babies were crying”.
“She was crying (but) she wasn’t screaming, she was really terrified”, witness Craig Battles said. The suspect was located near the scene and detained without incident, police said.

Although no parent ever wants to think about their own child being in danger, giving your child the knowledge he or she may need about predators and kidnapping could save a life.
