The president, while receiving a cross section of Nigerians who were mostly Muslims at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday said that the unity of Nigeria as a country was not negotiable.

Speaking with newsmen during the protest, president of NYCN in the state, Mr. Sukubo Sara-Igbe, said the activities of vandals were affecting the economic well being of the region and called on aggrieved youths not to destroy pipelines and other oil installations.

However, the militants said, “We want Garba Shehu (Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity) to go and get his record straight”.

“The fundamental issues are clear: the people of the Niger Delta need development and remediation of their environment which has been devastated by years of oil and gas exploration and exploitative activities”, said the CPEJ via a statement.

“President Buhari urges the new board to ensure the successful delivery of the mandate of the NNPC,”and serve the nation by upholding the public trust placed on them in managing this critical national asset”. We are now concentrating on the militants to know how many of them in terms of groupings, leadership and plead with them to try and give Nigeria a chance”, he said. We never thought of oil. “If they have been negotiating with any body it clearly shows they had been negotiating with fraudsters and their (national security agency) created militant group”. I assure them there would be justice.

“And please tell those with plenty of money, which does not belong to them‎ to try and negotiate and return it in peace so that both they and us will be in peace”.
