Cepelova shocks Muguruza to reach Wimbledon third round
“I think my energy was missing a little bit today”. I feel empty a little bit, and I start to be sick.

The Spaniard sprayed ugly shots all over the court and finished with 22 unforced errors, and just nine winners. Cepelova had a first-serve percentage of just over 40 percent, but still outplayed Muguruza with 14 winners and 12 errors.
“I really enjoyed it. I think I’ve got a lot of good things to take away from that match and a lot of things I hope to implement in my development as a tennis player and as a person”, she enthused. “But my energy wasn’t there”. “I went down a break early and there were a lot of close games”.
Cepelova also has a win over Serena Williams on her CV, from Charleston in 2014, but her overall career record does not match up to her headline-grabbing victories.
World No. 2 Garbine Muguruza, who beat Serena Williams less than a month ago to earn her first major title, fell in the second round of Wimbledon in a massive upset. Asked about this odd decision of Wimbledon organizers, the American player did not show to be happy and called for equality: ‘I’m willing to play anywhere, anytime.
Dominic Thiem, seeded No. 8 and considered one of the rising stars in the men’s game, became the highest seeded male player ousted so far this week.
Kei Nishikori was pushed to four sets but came out on top over Julien Benneteau, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.
An upset was on the cards from the first throes of her second-round match with Jana Cepelova, half a foot shorter but head and shoulders above her rival.
The 18-year-old’s challenge ended in tears when she needed a medical time-out at 7-7 in the final set after turning her ankle badly when she stepped on the ball.
When Muguruza, that rare person to outhit Williams as she did in Paris, lost emphatically to Cepelova in merely the second round here, it threw more flattery onto some other people.
Cepelova, 23, will face Czech 29th seed Lucie Safarova in the third round. He reached the third round in 2013 and ’14, but has never been beyond the first week.
Troubled in recent months by an Achilles injury that forced her withdrawal from the Birmingham event in mid-June, Halep was playing only her second grasscourt match of the season.
Sock s compatriot Sam Querrey, the 28th seed, eased past Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 for the dubious honour of facing defending champion Novak Djokovic for a place in the last 16.
Milos Raonic advanced to the third round at Wimbledon by beating Andreas Seppi 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-2. The final score was 6-3, 6-2.
The sixth-seeded Canadian, who reached the semifinals at the All England Club in 2014, had 25 aces in the match.
“The long days in the locker room the last days were just brutal”, Isner said. “We don’t want more, just the same amount”.
Young, meanwhile, won his first match at Wimbledon after losing in the first round in his five previous appearances.
But she managed to nip the Flipkens comeback in the bud and will face Italy’s 20th seed Sara Errani or Frenchwoman Alize Cornet in the next round. The Slovakian then stormed ahead 4-0 in the second and though Muguruza battled, she had nothing left.

There were also second round wins for fifth seed Simona Halep of Romania and United States ninth-seed Madison Keys.
