President Mukherjee greets citizens on Eid al-Fitr

At the same time, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar Singh has extended greetings and good wishes on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra (Kang) and Id-ul-Fitr. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan which literally means “festival of breaking of the fast”.
“It reaffirms our abiding faith in the spirit of compassion and charity”, he said.
Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in various parts of the country today.
“My greetings and best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr”.
Meanwhile, according to the Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid, Eid al-Fitr prayers would be held as per the programme at 9:45 am at the historic Eidgah in Shehar-e-Khas area of Srinagar.

He said that the Eid is a day of happiness and blessings but the Kashmiri nation had so far “missed the real spirit of this day because of the atrocities and the cruel behavior of the Indian occupational forces”. “On this auspicious day may the spirit of love & understanding fill our hearts & unite us in bonds of friendship & harmony”, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi said on Twitter.
