Wendy’s also said that there is no indication as of now that company-owned restaurants were affected by any attacks.

The company said hackers targeted cardholder names, card numbers and the three-digit card verification value (CVV) number found on the back of cards.
Media reports of unusual payment card activity related to Wendy’s customers first surfaced in January 2016, with the retailer officially confirming it in February 2016.
Wendy’s press release says the malware was “quickly identified and disabled”, and that the company has, “conducted a rigorous investigation to understand what has occurred and apply those learnings to further strengthen our data security measures”.
The updated statement said that the list of restaurants affected would be posted online, but wasn’t yet available at the time of writing Thursday.
Fast food chain Wendy’s said Thursday that customers’ personal information was compromised in a series of cyber attacks against the company that started a year ago.
“We are committed to protecting our customers and keeping them informed”.
Wendy’s will provide a list of restaurants where payment information may have been taken on a dedicated part of its website. But Wendy’s investigation confirmed the malware was effectively deployed on the franchisee systems starting late in the fall 2015.
