Storm threat returning tonight, risk of severe storms continues

Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats.

In the South, hot weather and diminishing soil moisture reserves continue to stress pastures and rain-fed summer crops in an area stretching from northern and central MS to the southern Appalachians.

Parts of central and east Alabama have a marginal risk of severe weather.

He said if the area gets any severe weather, it should be clear by the evening commute Thursday evening.

These severe weather outlooks are different than a watch or warning.

High winds, frequent lightning, flash flooding and isolated hail, plus the possibility for tornadoes, are all on the plate. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been confined to Antelope, Cuming, Thurston, Monona, Burt counties with nickel size hail confirmed.

The lack of sunshine have a huge impact on our weather Thursday.

The Storm Prediction Center has put western and west central Wisconsin in a SLIGHT RISK category for strong storms as we head through the early evening hours.

High Risk (pink) means a major outbreak is likely.
