The victory left the Mets looking for a sweep of Chicago on Sunday, after having entered the series with four losses in a row.
“We want to finish it off tomorrow”, Mets manager Terry Collins said.
Nimmo then won a nine-pitch at-bat, during which he fouled off three two-strike pitches, by singling to center to score d’Arnaud.
Before the game, Cubs manager Joe Maddon recalled writing Pancho on the lineup card when he was with the Angels instead of Colon’s name, a reference to Colon’s pet donkey when he was young in the Dominican Republic.
Cubs’ right fielder Chris Coghlan left the game in the four inning with soreness in his right rib cage.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Mets outfielder got hold of a John Lackey pitched and absolutely launched it to left field. By the time his night was over, between two lengthy rain delays, Hammel had a 3.45 ERA.
