Warriors introduce Kevin Durant Thursday

“I’m sorry you feel that way but I just want to live my life the way I want to live it. That’s the kind of feel that I wanted”.

Durant needed to know how a fellow superstar in Curry felt about all this, so he looked him the eye to find out.

The Warriors, per team policy, did not release terms of the deal but its widely reported to be a two-year maximum contract worth $54.3 million that includes a player option after the first year that would allow Durant to boost his salary further.

While Oklahoma City is still reeling from the move and deciding what to do next, the Warriors welcomed the 2014 NBA MVP to the Bay area.

Green was one of four Warriors players – along with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala – that traveled to the Hamptons to meet with Durant last Friday about signing with Golden State. As these superstars come together to chase an illustrious National Basketball Association championship other players around the league are probably questioning whether they should join other stars in hopes of winning a title. “Life goes on and I’ve got a short amount of time left to play basketball and I just want to enjoy every single day of it”. Although Durant’s situation is very different then Lebron’s, it still shows how the National Basketball Association will always be competitive league.

“He’s better than I thought”, Warriors GM Bob Myers said. And now we add one of the best players in the league.

He said that he went back and forth on the decision to leave the Thunder for the Warriors for a few days before announcing his move. “Tears were shed. I trusted my gut”, he said. “That’s always gonna be a part of who I am”.

On when he made the decision.

Durant meanwhile acknowledged his decision would likely dismay Thunder fans. However, he woke up on the Fourth of July and decided that he would join the Warriors.

Durant said many times that he knows many fans, especially those from Oklahoma City, aren’t happy about his decision. He ultimately pointed at Durant’s departure as a choice that didn’t fit in line with the person Cornett came to know over nine years in Oklahoma City. It’s no shot at Durant to say that, but it does give you a sense of how desperate OKC was at the end.

Kevin Durant: “It’s an unpopular decision but I can live with it”. I can’t control how you feel. I’m going to go play the Pistons.’ No, he got more joy beating the Pistons and winning it, because when you’re the bus driver…

Despite reports to the contrary, Durant said he relationship with Russell Westbrook was great and he called him a friend. I’m pretty sure Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone and John Stockton – we think we’re pretty damn good.

Team officials announced that he will wear #35 for the Warriors. The Thunder could have won next year’s championship just as easily as the Warriors could have won.
