Walsh’s deleted tweet was not the only one in which he took aim at Obama, blaming him directly for the deaths of the Dallas police officers.

Joe Walsh tweeted that “Real America” would react to the Dallas shootings.

Walsh also lumped Obama in with “cop haters” in another tweet, who he said Americans should “stand up [and] against”.

After his tweet stirred up controversy, Walsh clarified that he has only calling on people to “defend our cops”, not calling for violence.

Walsh, who was voted out of office in 2013 after just one House term, was an obsessive Obama critic during his brief time in Congress. He said, among other things, that Obama won the presidency because he is black, and that he “was never ready to be president to begin with”.

Buzzfeed News correspondent Brandon Wall posted a screenshot of Walsh’s series of tweets in regards to his suspension from the radio show.

In a Thursday speech on the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, black men killed by police officers, delivered well before the Dallas shootings, Obama addressed the notion of anti-police sentiment that has come up in the protests against police killings of mostly black men.
