A law enforcement official has told The Associated Press that the dead suspect in the shooting attack on Dallas police was 25-year-old Micah Johnson.

Police in an Atlanta suburb say a 21-year-old Georgia man will likely face charges including aggravated assault on a police officer after they say he opened fire on the officer from a passing vehicle. Childress would not discuss a possible motive.

“He jumped right into action and did a great job chasing this guy down and catching him”, Frommer said. The suspect is from Georgia. The suspect, in a blue Ford Explorer, was apprehended after brief chase.
Police did not immediately provide any information about the suspect or any charges. The suspect was taken into custody.
Frommer said the officer started after the suspect in his patrol auto.

Investigators later determined the Explorer had been stolen, police said.
