Dallas shooting suspect identified as 25-year-old Micah Johnson: US media
San Diego area officials were mourning Friday five Dallas Police officers killed in the deadliest attack on law enforcement since 9/11.

A Dallas sniper shooting suspect who was eventually killed by authorities told police he was upset about the Black Lives Matter movement and wanted to kill white people – especially white officers. Brown said other suspects were in custody but would not discuss those detentions.
With the country reeling from the week’s two high profile police shootings of black men, and Thursday night’s sniper attack in Dallas that left five officers dead, the Chicago Police Department has mandated its officers now work in pairs for safety.
He says officers killed the suspect with a robot-delivered bomb after hours of negotiations failed.
Both killings were captured on video and posted online.
Lynch said protesters concerned about killings by police should not be discouraged “by those who use your lawful actions as a cover for their heinous violence”. Supt. Eddie Johnson is meeting with other department leaders Friday morning to make sure officers are safe on the streets.
The attack began Thursday night during a protest about the recent killings by police of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota.
Three suspects are in custody and one has died.
Authorities say the suspect involved in the standoff said there were bombs placed around the city but Dallas Police say they have not found any explosives.
According to a story from The Verge, defense technology expert Peter Singer said he believes it’s the first time a law enforcement agency used such a device to take out a suspect, not just to dispose of a bomb.
Demonstrator Brittaney Peete told The Associated Press that she didn’t hear the gunshots, but she “saw people rushing back toward me saying there was an active shooter”.
But on Friday, Brown told reporters the suspect who was killed “stated that he was not affiliated with any groups and he stated that he did this alone”.
Thompson, who was killed in the attacks on Thursday, had served as an officer for Dallas Area Rapid Transit since 2009.
“It is a heartbreaking morning”, Rawlings said.
Three other DART officers were expected to recover from their wounds, DART said. Brown said other options “would have exposed our officers to grave danger”. “It shows how much support we really do have, because we are community-oriented”, said Kelley.
At the same conference, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings insisted neither he nor the department would tell the press “anything about the suspects”, since the investigation was ongoing.
Sessions said in a statement that he would continue to monitor developments.
When the shooting began, Taylor threw herself over her sons, Williams said.
“In times like this we must remember-and emphasize-the importance of uniting as Americans”, Abbott said.
Other protests across the USA on Thursday were peaceful.
As one of the organizers of the Justice for #AltonSterling #Philando Castile, the Reverend Jeff Hood was standing behind the old courthouse where protesters were gathering and had just crossed the street when gunfire erupted and a police officer collapsed.
