Kevin Durant: I’m not a villain, and Westbrook’s still my friend
The price tag on the signature sneakers branded for National Basketball Association star Kevin Durant just jumped by nearly double-from $88 to $150-shortly after the 2014 MVP left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors.

“To have two teammates part of this experience with me, it’s going to be fantastic, just getting to know them outside of basketball”, Durant said. If that’s news to anyone reading this then I’d like to thank you for making your way out from under your rock and finding your way to a computer, and then accidentally finding this article and taking the time to read these first two sentences.
OK. Stop. This is obviously big, a potential era-changing moment not just for the Warriors, but for the entire league, and this is exactly what they sold him on.
“Evan’s skill set on the court and character off the court are ideal additions to our team and the culture we are working to build in Portland”, said Olshey.
How did this happen?
By joining with the Warriors, Durant has become the villain in the eyes of many. Once it was announced that Durant made a decision to sign with the Warriors, stories started to come out about how important Iguodala’s pitch to Durant was during his meeting with the Warriors. The memories and friendships are something that go far beyond the game.
In the most anticipated move of the National Basketball Association offseason, Durant announced his decision Monday on The Players’ Tribune. I wanted to see if he really would embrace me as a player and as a person, and I had no doubts that he would. “I couldn’t consider totally everybody’s feelings at this point because it would be hard to, so I just tried to focus on me but also realize the relationships that I had I still wanted those to be – I’m sure they won’t be the same, but I still wanted to go out there and leave with some class and some dignity, but hopefully I did, hopefully he understands, and I’m sure we’ll talk again”. Ezeli is probably a starting caliber center in the National Basketball Association, but he looked really bad for the majority of the playoffs, and doesn’t make sense for the price for Golden State, especially with how often they’re going to be running with the DeaTH LineuP. The best part: the pieces all fit.
Four guys. Durant was the fifth.
Pachulia replaced Andrew Bogut, who was traded to the Dallas Mavericks earlier to create room for Durant’s contract.
As for the rest of the Warriors’ bench?
They have Shaun Livingston, Kevon Looney, the draft picks Damian Jones and Patrick McCaw. and then it gets a little tricky.
The Warriors don’t have to renounce all of their free agents, but the only ones they can possibly bring back are the cheapest ones – Ian Clark and James Michael McAdoo – and maybe Kerr will prevail and get Leandro Barbosa back on a minimum deal. This is what they meant.
With Durant clearly planning to opt out next summer, are the Warriors in jeopardy of losing him then? We want to do better.
