Lake was involved in a police shooting in December 2014.
“When someone identified themselves as a concealed carry holder, for most police officers it puts them somewhat at ease”, Jerry Staton, retired Austin police officer, said.
Mr Dabadie, who called the shooting a “horrible tragedy”, said: “Like you, there is a lot that we do not understand”.
It says, with unmistakable authority that black lives indeed matter.
July 17th marks two years since Garner was killed after police in Staten Island placed him in a choke-hold.
“He was trying to get out his ID and his wallet out of his pocket”, she said. Castile, who was driving, was shot with Reynolds and her 4-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
“He doesn’t deserve this”, the woman was heard saying as she cried in the video.
Alton Sterling had five children, 15, 3 and about 10 years old boys, and 1-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, Sharida Sterling said. The video showed blood oozing through Castile’s shirt as he appeared to lose consciousness.
The local community quickly took to the streets in protest.
“Justin Timberlake simply wrote: “#AltonSterling”, MC Hammer called for justice, writing: “This barbaric behavior under the guise of law is despicable, inhumane and heartbreaking. Two officers are in now surgery and three officers are in critical condition. “Would this have happened if the driver and the passengers were white?” No one else was injured.
Moore didn’t return messages Thursday to clarify his remarks, and the Justice Department said it wouldn’t comment further because of the ongoing investigation.
“They won’t prosecute it, but they’ll do the investigating side of it”, Carbo said.
The deaths of Sterling and Castile were the latest in a string of incidents in recent years involving police treatment of black men and boys in cities including Baltimore, Chicago, New York and Cleveland. “I know my son … we know black people have been killed …” I’m not angry enough to curse the police out.
Valerie Castile added that African-Americans “are being hunted every day”. Sterling, 37, was shot and killed on Tuesday outside a convenience store where he was selling CDs.
“Four previous “use of force” complaints were lodged against the two white police officers… and they were cleared in all of them, according to internal affairs documents released Thursday”. The bystander video, however, did not capture footage of one of the officers pulling the object out of Sterling’s pocket.
On Wednesday night, Crocklem joined dozens of people for a vigil at Tacoma’s People’s Park to denounce the shooting.
“All of us as Americans should be troubled by the shootings”, President Obama said in an address from Poland, where he is traveling.
