Judge Ends Adrian Peterson’s Probation 15 Months Early

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson’s probation has been terminated early, according to a report from KHOU, and the Montgomery County District Attorney is claiming it was done without the NFL player completing all of its terms.

According to the report, Montgomery County state District Judge Kelly Case terminated Peterson’s probation 15 months early after determining he fulfilled the requirements. “His probation is over”, his attorney, Rusty Hardin, told KHOU. Ligon asked for, and received, a public apology after the judge called attorneys in the Peterson case “media whores”. Ligon told the news station he plans to file an appeal, “so we can fully explore what exactly was done and what wasn’t done”.

“The collateral consequences to Peterson I know weighed heavily on their mind, as well as the fact that everybody there had been disciplined as a child” Ligon said. It is not the first time Case and the district attorney’s office have butted heads. “They did not, and the judge granted it….”

The Vikings announced July 21 that they restructured the final three years of Peterson’s contract, giving him “additional security”, as Peterson said in a statement. But it’s over and done with.

While an appeal could feasibly change the circumstances of Peterson’s probation once more, it shouldn’t have any bearing on his commitment to the Vikings. “And now Adrian is going to go play football”.

Peterson is concluding his second week of Minnesota’s training camp in Mankato. “I’ve been working out hard, been keeping my body in shape”.

Peterson’s saga could officially come to a close if the termination of his probation is upheld, but another legal battle appears to be on the horizon.
