Clinton, Trump cancel political events after police deaths
Harmeet Dhillon, who’ll have a hand in deciding whether Republican delegates will have the opportunity to dump Donald Trump as their nominee, says there’s more than a one in four chance such a vote will go to the convention floor. But the friendly atmosphere turned fraught when he lashed out in the face of direct criticism.

Representative Walden has not always had such a benign view of Mr. Trump’s impact on the effort Walden leads to keep the largest Republican House majority since 1928.
“Almost as many people were asking for pictures with Ivanka as with Trump”, King said, joking that maybe she should run for president someday.
Trump also met with House Republicans.
And in a statement issued after the meeting with House members, Speaker Paul Ryan had nothing positive to say about Trump-other than to thank him for the visit and what Ryan called Trump’s desire to unify the party.
In his meeting with senators, perhaps the most tense moment came in a confrontation with Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona.
“I tried to be a good Republican and support him”, Burkman said.
Flake responded in kind, tweaking Trump for his attack on Sen.
Kirk, Flake, Kelly Ayotte and Ben Sasse are among those who have either said they will not be backing Trump or are among those waiting to be convinced to support to him.
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both called off political events Friday, hours after five police officers were killed in Dallas during a protest over fatal police shootings of black men in other states.
He met and managed to reach an accommodation with Mr Cruz, whom he had not seen since their ugly nomination battle in May. “Donald asked me to speak at the Republican convention and I told him I’d be happy to do so”. Trump defended himself over those comments Thursday, telling lawmakers it was an example of the media twisting his words, according to Rep. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, a strong Trump supporter. But at the meeting with Cruz Thursday morning, the Texas Republican said there was “no discussion of any endorsement”.
The session drew in 41 out of 54 Republican Senators. “But things like the Saddam Hussein comment are not helping me get there”, Kinzinger added.
Politico reports that Sasse was one of the first to leave the meeting.
“I have great faith in American voters”. For me, patriotism doesn’t mean blind allegiance to your country-especially when it comes to supporting non-defensive wars, torture or other unethical endeavors. “I really do. I just can’t support him given the things that he’s said”.
If that proposal fails, as expected, Trump’s opponents are hoping to win over 28 of the 112 Rules Committee members (25 percent) who will be meeting that Thursday to force the full convention to consider whether to unbind the delegates.
When asked whether he was bothered by the tweet, Rep.
Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., who has emerged as a rare surrogate on behalf of Trump, said, “Generally speaking it was very productive”.
