DOPE Actress In Running FLASH Movie’s IRIS WEST

Sources tell Variety that Famuyiwa’s top choice for the female lead in “The Flash” is Kiersey Clemons, who also starred in Famuyiwa’s critically acclaimed dramedy “Dope”. But while the speedster superhero will appear in ensemble movie Justice League, played by Ezra Miller, Flash’s standalone movie is picking up steam. Clearly Warner Bros.is going for color blind casting here, which is a welcome change of pace. While the report was not able to specify which character Clemons would prospectively play in the film, the idea that she has been cast as the lead female will certainly have fans deducing that she will play Barry Allen/The Flash’s traditional love interest in journalist Iris West. After jettisoning Seth Grahame-Smith from the director’s chair, Warner Bros. set Rick Famuyiwa to take the helm based primarily on the promise he showed with his Sundance hit Dope. She has appeared on series’ such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Transparent, New Girl and Extant, and co-starred in the sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, the follow-up to the film Neighbors.

Miller is poised to be joined by Ray Fisher’s Cyborg in The Flash, which is reportedly a team-up/buddy-type movie between the two.

However, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit revealed via Twitter that Ora and another Brit, Lucy Boynton, are also in contention for the part.
