Sarah Palin: Black Lives Matter is a ‘farce’

The shooting in Dallas occurred shortly before 9 p.m. last night during a Black Lives Matter protest following two incidents this week in which police shot and killed two black men in Minnesota and Louisiana.

A new date has not been set, but Hawkins says he’s talked to Flint police, state police and the Genesee County sheriff’s office about participating. The Friday protests came a day after a sniper killed five police officers during a demonstration in Dallas. But they say they understand the frustration that led to Thursday’s shootings.

Poor, troubled, crime-ridden communities are those that most want and need effective policing. Dallas’s efforts include participation in two initiatives begun by the White House in response to police-involved killings.

The city had agreed to provide previously private data about encounters with police for the Justice Department to analyze.

Bilal, a former Philadelphia police officer, was among several religious and political figures who spoke at a news conference Friday morning in front of the Greater Bible Way Temple Church at 1461 N. 52nd St.in West Philadelphia. But U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, speaking about the demonstrations inspired by Black Lives and other groups, drew a bright line between the gunman’s actions and “lawful protest and protected speech”. Mayor Mike Rawlings was right when he told reporters that Dallas is “one of the premier community policing cities in the country”.

“We are not anti-police, we have never been anti-police”.

In Baton Rouge, where Alton Sterling was fatally shot Tuesday, protesters marched near the police headquarters.

The suspect was shot by the officers and is being treated at a hospital. But the paradigm can not be us versus them. According to witness accounts, the officers were doing their job in a friendly manner, engaging in conversation with protesters and taking selfies with them.

Reed revealed that a year ago, Atlanta law enforcement fired their weapons less than 10 times in 1.6 million interactions.

Obama said police officers had “an extraordinarily hard job and the vast majority of them do their job in outstanding fashion” while speaking to reporters in Warsaw.

Earlier Friday, Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said officers would be vigilant and visible during the event, but that it should remain open to anyone who wants to attend – with no security checkpoints, nor a special show of force. “Today is a wrenching reminder of the sacrifices that they make for us”.
