Black Lives Matter organizer Sir Maejor said the rally in Atlanta was scheduled before the Dallas shooting. “I don’t encourage it, I don’t condone it, I don’t justify it. But I understand it”.
Charlotte’s NAACP will meet with clergy Friday afternoon to talk about how to bring the community together after the divisive shootings that have taken place in Louisiana, Minnesota and now Dallas.
Black Lives Matter began in 2013 after black teenager Trayvon Martin was shot to death in Florida by one-time community watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was later acquitted. Coalition member Erica Mines, 38, who argued with former President Bill Clinton about his 1994 crime bill when the former president visited Philadelphia in April, said Dallas is what “war looks like”. “We are exhausted and we are ready to stand up”.

We all know that all lives matter, but history has shown that some lives seem to be valued more than others.
During the event, the group also explained what they say is the meaning of the Black Lives Matter movement. “The suspect said he wanted to kill white people”.
“The convenient narrative has been for people, for the media to say, “Well, this was organized by Black Lives Matter”,” said Tezlyn Figaro, a publicist for Next Generation Action Network, the group that organized the event.
