Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), now probing Rajendra Kumar, the former Principal Secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday said that voice samples collected by the agency while investigating Kumar for charges of corruption did belong to the arrested senior bureaucrat.

The other accused in the case are Kumar’s close aide Ashok Kumar, another former managing directors of ICSIL A.K. Duggal and two directors of Endeavour Systems Private Limited – Sandeep Kumar and Dinesh Kumar Gupta.

CBI officials had also visited Trade and Taxes department (also known as VAT department) office at ITO area and collected evidence including a software (which was part of the contract) that was lying unused there at the instance of Sandeep Kumar, the official said.

The CBI said it has recovered Rs 27 lakh from the west Delhi residence of Amit Goyal, the chartered accountant of Mr Kumar who was arrested by CBI on Monday.

The CBI officer on Saturday said the agency has got the conformation from the forensic laboratory (CFSL) about the conversation between Rajendra Kumar and the other accused in the corruption case.

Separate CBI teams searched three premises of ESPL’s director Dinesh Kumar Gupta in Delhi, one premises of the Ashok Kumar’s company in sector-63 in Noida and one premises of a book publisher Ratan Prakashan Mandir in Agra, the official said. According to CBI, Kumar, being fearful that his phone might have been tapped, would send this audio clips on emails of other accused persons.

The CBI had on December 14, 2015 registered a FIR against Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer, for allegedly abusing his official position in awarding contracts from the Delhi government to ESPL.

During the hearing, CBI sought 10 days custodial interrogation of the accused, claiming that Rajendra Kumar was an influential person and it was impossible to conduct a fair probe in the matter without arresting him as he was intimidating witnesses.
