A third of Cleveland police will have GOP convention duties
CLEVELAND, Ohio- The FOX 8 I-Team is investigating how the murders of Dallas police officers during a protest there could affect security here in Cleveland for the Republican National Convention.

“We have got to make some changes without a doubt”, Tomba told Reuters in a phone interview.
Cleveland police are partnering with agencies from throughout the country to ensure there’s an adequate law enforcement presence for the event, and city officers have trained with partnering agencies to ensure they follow high standards, Williams said.
“We haven’t announced any such plans”, she said in an email. “We believe the Honorable RNC Convention Chair and House Speaker Paul Ryan has the right idea”, Lamb said.
Union officials elsewhere said the Franklin County sheriff’s office was switching to two-officer cars for its patrols, while the president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association said the department sent out an order late Thursday taking one-officer cars off the street and having officers double up.
Authorities in Cleveland, which has been roiled in recent years by police shootings of blacks that helped lead to Kasich’s initiative, have insisted they’re ready to put on a safe convention. Nina Turner told The Associated Press on Friday.
What worries security experts and some veteran demonstrators are groups that are expected to show up without permits and may ignore the rules of the security zones established by the city and Secret Service. From 5 a.m.to 1 a.m. they’ll process protesters who come out to rally against Trump.
Daines said he still supports Trump.
Cincinnati police also declined Cleveland’s request for officers. “To assign the actions of one person to an entire movement is risky and irresponsible”.

“Throughout the course of planning for the RNC, our officers have undergone hours of training relative to many subjects”, Police Chief Calvin Williams wrote in an open letter on the department’s Facebook page and website.
