Barrio, who made his corrida debut in 2008 and toured rings all over the country, was pronounced dead at the scene, Tauroemocion, the organiser of the bullfight, told AFP.
Meanwhile, in the San Fermin bull running festival in Pamplona on Saturday, a 33-year-old Japanese man was gored in the chest and a Spanish man in the arm.
The Red Cross said Victor Barrio, 29, was gored in the throat and abdomen and died later of his injuries. “Rest in peace”, he wrote on Twitter.
His horrific death was shown live on television and was confirmed on the website of Madrid’s Las Ventas bullring where he started as an apprentice in 2010. The arena tweeted condolences to Barrio’s family.
Spaniards were faced with a horrifying sight on Saturday when a famous bullfighter, Víctor Barrio, was gored in the chest and killed live on television, NBC News reports.
A bull’s horn pierced his lung and heart as he was trying to help another runner during the event, in which a man was killed previous year, a spokesman for the regional government said. His father was gored to death in Andalusia in 1984.

Bullfighting deaths amongst matadors are relatively rare, especially compared to deaths on bull runs which average up to 10 a year. The matador generally slaughters the bull with a sword at the end of the fight. While mourning the death of Barrio, Spaniard Isabel Garcia also pointed out in the matador’s Facebook page, “It’s a awful shame that such a young person has lost his life but if you put yourself in front of a bull to massacre it, the animal will defend itself”.
