A man has been arrested for the murder of a Swampscott woman who disappeared last November.

Fleury, 37, was arrested in Hampton, Vir., on Tuesday. Her remains were found on Swampscott’s King’s Beach in January.
Fluery was arrested by Massachusetts and Virginia State Police Swampscott and Hampton, Virginia police.
Fleury was held in Virginia overnight and was in court Wednesday morning where he was arraigned as a fugitive from justice.
Authorities say Fleury was secretly indicted by an Essex county grand jury last Friday charging him with Mendez’s murder.
He’s charged with killing Jaimee Mendez, 25, the single mother of an autistic son, who was last seen by her family when she left to visit a convenience store to pick up money her father had wired to her.
Fleury is expected to be extradited to Massachusetts to be arraigned for Mendez’s murder.
Had he not waived extradition, it could have taken several months to obtain a governor’s warrant to bring him back.
The DA’s office did not immediately release any further information about Fleury’s connection to Mendez. However, WAVY.com also found an address listed in Gloucester County for Fleury.
At one point, while leaving a Massachusetts police station, Fleury told the local newspaper The Daily item of Lynn “I didn’t hurt the girl”.

In November, however, the Lynn Daily Item reported that a man by the name of Jason Fleury denied any knowledge of Mendez’ disappearance though he did admit to seeing her the night of her disappearance.
