Petrov makes Aston Villa return in Austria

After helping his local Sunday league side Wychall Wanderers secure the Central Warwickshire Over-35s Premier Division One Cup past year, Petrov made his return to Villa on a non-contract basis, with the club not ruling out the possibility of offering the player a more permanent place in the squad.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Reading’s talented midfielder Aaron Tshibola for a fee believed to be in the region of £5.5 million, the club have confirmed on their official website.

The 21-year-old made just 17 appearances after making his Royals debut as a teenager.

Tshibola spent some time on the sidelines last term after sustaining ankle and hamstring injuries but joins new Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo’s squad ahead of the Championship season.

Tshibola will link up at Villa Park with his former Reading coach Steve Clarke, now serving as Di Matteo’s assistant at the relegated club, and will be hoping to impress his new management team in pre-season over the next month. An offer came in for him and of course you have to think about what to do – but then you have the player as well. He actually only started six games last season, of which only two saw a Reading win.

It is a shame that Tshibola has not only left the club so soon, but felt the need to force through a transfer.
