Bangladeshi police name all five gunmen in Dhaka attack
Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the killing of the 20 hostages and two police officers during the 12-hour siege that ended after the army stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery popular with expats in the diplomatic zone here, killing six attackers and capturing one alive.

Meanwhile, as the probe to the Dhaka terror attack continues, police here said that it had shot dead the pizza chef of the restaurant, mistakenly thinking he was one of the militants.
“Over the weekend we became aware through social media discussions that some of the alleged perpetrators of the Bangladeshi terror attacks had reportedly at one time studied at Monash Malaysia as well as attending other universities and schools”, Monash University Malaysia spokesman Dr Susheela Nair said in a statement.
But, the Islamic State named the five gunmen in photos they released hours after the attack as Abu Umayer, Abu Salma, Abu Rahiq, Abu Muslim and Abu Muharib.
“The Jihad that has come to Bangladesh now has been promised by Prophet Mohammed”, he said.
The attack is a matter of concern for India also as there’s a possibility that Bangladesh is being used as a base for IS to launch attacks on India. “Monash Malaysia will provide updates when further information is available”, she added.
The video footage shows that three Bangla-speaking young men, one of the hide his face behind veil, one bearded and the other clean shaved, made the calls for attacks on Bangladesh standing by a busy road being crossed by speeding cars in the night.
Babul told The Associated Press that the missing men are from educated families and are sons of serving and retired government employees. “Those who have recruited them have done it with a target”, referring to their family backgrounds.

He said of his son’s participation in the attack, “It is very shameful for us – it’s humiliating, disparaging and sad. I seek pardon to all, through you”. Police, however, claim that most of the attackers were linked to local outlawed militant groups.In the video, three of the speakers are of Bangladesh origin, but they could not be identified immediately. However, the government has blamed domestic militant organizations bent on imposing Islamic rule.
