Mo. officer shot during traffic stop

While the officer was turned around, the suspect “advanced quickly”, and fired at least three shits, with one striking Flamion in the neck.

Other departments reported being bombarded with threats, and some implemented new policies requiring officers to patrol in pairs.

Kevin Scott, Chief of the Ballwin Police Department, said the officer was walking back to his vehicle after speaking with Taylor when he was shot. “@stlcountypd Suspect apprehended and weapon recovered”.

The vehicle the suspect was believed to be driving, a, older-model blue Ford Taurus with an IL temporary license plate, was located. Then 911 dispatchers began getting reports of an officer shot.

Several community leaders – including Rep. Ann Wagner, whose district includes Ballwin, and Steve Stenger, the St. Louis County executive – and area police departments expressed support for Ballwin’s police and the injured officer.

Authorities say Flamion was shot from behind Friday.

The Valdosta officer was shot “multiple times”, Police Chief Brian Childress said, as quoted by AP. His family is at the hospital. “As far as this individual or what his motives are I don’t know”. “He’s in stable condition but he’s in the ICU as a precaution”. Dutton said one gunshot hit the officer in the abdomen, just below his protective vest.

McCulloch said that police work was 99 percent routine and that “there’s no way to predict that something like this is going to happen”.

Police said a motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately clear, and that Majia Nunez is speaking with investigators but his cooperation has been limited.

The shooting followed the previous night’s attack in Dallas that killed five officers and wounded seven during a protest over the deaths of black men killed by police this week in Louisiana and Minnesota.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said in May that 41 officers were “feloniously killed” in the line of duty in 2015, a decrease of nearly 20 percent from the 51 officers killed in 2014.
