After long goodbye, signs off from ‘The Daily Show’

Jon Stewart went meta in his second to last show Wednesday night by targeting hyperbolic headlines that have claimed, over the years, that the Daily Show host had “eviscerated” his opponents.

Stewart steps down from “The Daily Show” just as the presidential election campaign – a comedy gold mine – heats up. Over the past decade Stewart has even aired brutal fake tag lines like “Arby’s: Technically it’s food”, “Arby’s: Isn’t there something else we can eat?” and “Arby’s: You think pain and grief are hard to digest”. What the fuck is going on here?!

“The world is demonstrably worse than when I started” Stewart lamented in a sentiment tinged with a note of sincerity. As I shuffle off this basic cable coil, must I discover my years of evisceration have bettered nothing?

Trump, the billionaire businessman turned Republican Party White House contender, has become Stewart’s favorite target as his tenure on the popular Comedy Central program winds down.

Politico has reported that several people have taped farewells for Stewart’s finale and some of those cameos include John McCain and Chuck Schumer.

Stewart’s last guest will be friend and fellow comedian Louis C.K. Until then Daily Show fans will have to wait until September when new host Trevor Noah takes over the show.
