Mumbai-based Naik has come under the scanner after it was reported that his speeches have inspired some of the Dhaka cafe attackers.

The Maharashtra government has separately announced its own review of Dr Naik’s speeches and writing, as well as the operations of his organization, which describes itself as a charitable agency.
“Since the launch of Islamic Research Foundation in 1991, Naik has travelled to many parts of the world and delivered a large number of speeches and organised several debates”. “Protest march against terrorism”, read the banner. Rubbishing a Bangladeshi newspaper report that he inspired one of the Dhaka carnage perpetrators, Naik sought to put the blame on “other speakers who misguide Muslims in the name of Islam”. In past, others involved in terrorist activities like recently busted Hyderabad ISIS module’s chief have found to be followers of Naik.
Naik, during his lecture on Peace TV, reportedly urged all Muslims to become terrorists.
On Wednesday, union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju told reporters in New Delhi: “Zakir Naik’s speech is a matter of concern for us”. Bangladesh information minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Sunday the government would take an administrative decision on Monday before shutting down Peace TV.
Also, confirming that inquiry has begun, Mumbai Police said Zakir Naik’s public documents, videos and social media posts are being examined.
“We have taken cognisance of Zakir Naik’s speeches and have given necessary instructions for a probe”.
According to CNN-News18, Fadnavis said, The Mumbai Police has been told to inquire against Nayek and probe his source of funding/donations, properties and submit a report soon. The Home Ministry is running a check on the clearances granted to his NGO under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) and any possible irregularities.
The Bangladesh government today banned the broadcasting of India-based controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s Peace TV, PTI reported.
Naik in his speech said that three years ago he received one of the most prestigious awards in Malaysia.
