Andy Murray: ‘Nick Kyrgios lost focus after first set’
Australia’s Nick Kyrgios after falling during his match against Great Britain’s Andy Murray.

“I don’t love the sport”, Kyrgios said, not for the first time.
The mercurial 15th seed turned on the style to outclass Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez on “People’s Sunday”, knocking off two sets in quick time for a 6-3 6-7 (2) 6-3 6-4 win after bad light stopped the third-round clash the previous evening.
“I know that I have the talent to do good things. Certainly based on that performance I’ve become more concerned”.
Nick Kyrgios went down in straight sets in the fourth round against Andy Murray.
He added: “I don’t love the sport”. I don’t think he is trying sometimes, there’s no doubt about it, but that’s the way he plays.
But in general this was the positive side of Kyrgios and Murray will be extremely wary of the flashy 21-year-old.
Asked about his chances against Murray, Kyrgios said he was “beatable”.
“When Andy walks in, we see each other, we just give each other a look”.
“We joke a lot”. Obviously when he’s in the locker room, it’s just instant banter.
His mood was best summed up when, cutting a forlorn figure midway through the third set, Kyrgios said: “Absolutely, so suck”.
“To be honest, I woke up this morning [Monday] and played computer games”. Mentally, I feel good.
Meanwhile, Sam Querrey said fears his famous victory over Novak Djokovic would be labelled a fluke helped motivate him to beat Nicolas Mahut and become the first American man to reach a grand slam quarterfinal for five years.
Murray shrugged off growing expectations that he can win a third major after the shock defeat of top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic in the third round.
“When things get tough, I’m just a little bit soft”, said the Australian. They think that their chances probably doubled.
“He was up in the high 80s for first-serve percentage, which to win a set against someone serving like that is big and totally changed the way the match went, I think”.
The Australian counts himself among the title hopefuls but his record against Murray does not offer too much hope. I’m really looking forward to getting out there.
The Wimbledon favourite remains on course to reclaim his title after reaching the quarter-finals here for the ninth consecutive year – and will rarely have had an easier fourth round victory. I don’t know. But it was fun. I hope so, definitely. I believed that I could win the match.
“He’s improving all the time. Has performed well in those situations before”.
The Frenchman had never won a tour-level match on grass prior to beating Marius Copil in round one but looked fully at home on the surface and will play Tomic in the last 16 on Monday.

Kyrgios completed hard in the 42-minute first set but Murray raised his game at 5-6 win the first break of the match with a serious of scorching backhand winners and the flamboyant Aussie could only shrug at his box in frustration.
