Salma Hayek has a life full of objective and productivity and one of the projects she has been working on, the animated film adaptation of Kahlil Gibran’s 1923 book of prose poetry, The Prophet, is especially dear to her. “Many people tell me, ‘But they are not going to like poetry.’ Children love poetry”. Dreamy children will probably be fascinated, and in the process they’ll see a world of Middle Eastern culture seldom shown in films.

Do you miss the actress and wish there could be more recent Salma Hayek movies? “It’s their first language, they think in metaphor”, she added.

Salma Hayek certainly hasn’t been as much of a red carpet fixture as she was a decade ago.

She says she’s not being hunted down as much for roles in LA, but, quite frankly, she just doesn’t care!

“I received various awards for humanitarian work that I did, and I took part in several movies”.

Although she admits that she has not been called too often lately, the actress nonetheless admits that she remains busy by getting involved in good causes, in addition to caring for her seven year old daughter, Valentina Pinault, and travel with her husband, French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault.

Sitting in a long sleeve striped button-up Gucci wrap dress, the “Frida” actress scrunched her face to display lines when asked about turning 49 next month.

“You don’t look as bad as you thought you were going to look”.
