Mick Jagger And Martin Scorsese’s Rock Drama Titled Vinyl
Admittedly, it doesn’t give a lot away – it’s essentially a selection of clips of guitars, microphones and boxes of pills – nevertheless, it is accompanied by a more detailed synopsis of the show itself. The hour-long music drama conceived by the multi-talented Stones frontman focuses on sex, drugs and rock n’ roll in the recording industry back in the late 70s and will debut as nine-part series on HBO in 2016.

It tells the tale of struggling record company boss Richie Finestra, who sets out to revive his label by trying to find talent in the US city.
At the TCA summer press tour, HBO president Michael Lombardo addressed how much The Rolling Stones’ music would be featured on the show. The site also teases Olivia Wilde and Ray Romano as series regulars. More recently, Entertainment Tonight snapped photos of Jagger’s son, James, confirming his role as Kip Stevens, the lead singer of the Nasty Bits. James is playing a young musician who looks not unlike his father. “Very different period. Very different trajectory”. The project has been in the works for a while as Winter’s Boardwalk Empire follow-up (he’s the showrunner for Vinyl), with Scorsese directing the pilot and executive producing alongside Jagger.
It’s not the first time that Jagger and Scorsese have worked together either.
