Lesnar earns basic purse of US$2.5M in win over Hunt

UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt would like a rematch with Brock Lesnar after his unanimous-decision loss at UFC 200 and said he wasn’t happy with the drug-testing exemptions the WWE star received ahead of their bout.

Nunes (13-4) became the third woman in the last eight months since Ronda Rousey lost the belt to become the queen of the 135-pound division.

Amanda Nunes beat Miesha Tate at UFC 200 on Saturday, becoming the league’s first openly gay champion. Tate tried to apply the same ploy she did against Holly Holm but Nunes proved slippery to handle.

“It took me a little while just to get acclimatised”, said Lesnar after his victory.

The 12-fight event kicked off Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET with three fights streaming on UFC Fight Pass. Four additional preliminary card bouts followed at 8 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, with the five-fight main card airing live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.

Brock Lesnar has spent a lot of recent years in the WWE and his return to the Octagon was seen as risky.

“Once the dust settles there, I don’t know what I’m going to do”.

“It would have been catastrophic if I would have lost tonight, because I would still be the champion, but have lost to a guy that probably would have went down to middleweight and challenged for the belt, so I did what I needed to do”, said Cormier.

Miesha Tate had been pondering on what to do next after UFC 200 but needed to take down Amanda Nunes first before thinking ahead.

The UFC is also stepping up its support of the LGBTQ community with its new “We Are All Fighters” campaign. Using mostly short strikes with hands encased in triple-XL gloves, the American scored a win (29-27 three times) on his first time back in the Octagon since 2011. Tate was the favorite heading into the night, but Nunez shook her up early with a big punch that broke the champion’s nose.

Former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez picked up $350,000, including a $50,000 performance of the night bonus, for stopping Travis Browne ($120,000).

Lesnar hosted his post-match press conference by himself after his match with Mark Hunt. Anderson Silva by unanimous decision.

As for Hunt, it was a blow to his momentum following two first-round knockout wins over Bigfoot Silva (19-9-1) and Frank Mir (18-11).
