United Airlines flight London to Chicago declares mid-air emergency

A Chicago-bound United Airlines flight traveling from London, England was diverted early Tuesday morning due to a mid-air emergency.

The plane dumped fuel as it circled above the Scottish city before starting its descent into Edinburgh Airport and landing safely.

The United Airlines flight declared an emergency after taking off at Heathrow and diverted the flight to Scotland after about an hour.

Initial reports said that the pilot had spotted a fuel issue.

The Boeing 767-300 reported an emergency while flying above the north of Britain, AirLive reports.

According to an air traffic tracking website, the aircraft declared the emergency due to fuel issue.

They said: “We will address the issue once landed, and have a flight on its way”.
