Noah Syndergaard: New York Met’s P denies reports he has elbow problem

In the first game back at Nationals Park since June 15th, the Nationals smashed the New York Mets 11-4 to take the first game of the series and extend their lead to four games over the Mets. It wasn’t Monday night. “A lot of young kids come out here and on their first outing they’re very nervous and seem like they’re pressured and they’re all over the place with their pitches, but he was very relaxed”.

Mets ace Matt Harvey suffered his tenth loss of the season, balanced against just four wins.

Scherzer struck out at least 10 for the seventh time this year and the 43rd time in his career. It can get worse.

Giolito was on deck when the rains came again and forced a delay that would last nearly an hour and a half.

Giolito’s much-anticipated debut had to wait a little longer after rain delayed the start of the game by 55 minutes.

New York’s most prolific starter is denying reports that season-ending surgery could be in the cards for him.

But Harvey could be overshadowed for at least one night but a rookie.

Steven Matz and Noah Syndergaard both have bone spurs at the backs of their pitching elbows and will attempt to pitch through the injuries, which have popped up amid a stretch of uncharacteristic struggles. The Mets didn’t reach base again until Nimmo’s hit on the final pitch from Scherzer, who left to a standing ovation.

“He’s going to have to deal with it because it’s not going away”, Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday. I think he probably kept it under control.

After losing seven straight and starting to hear footsteps from the Marlins and Mets the Nationals have gotten back on track winning three in a row.

Still, Collins was quick to get him out of the game after Syndergaard gave up five runs in the third inning, shockingly blowing a 4-0 lead, and admitted doing so with his elbow scare from last week in mind. Washington has been able to keep the Mets in check at the plate already with lesser pitching than Scherzer and the Washington batters have beat up better Mets’ pitching than Verrett. “You belong here.’ That’s just what I tried to prove”, the 21-year-old said.

The Nationals planned to recall top prospect Lucas Giolito to make his major league debut Tuesday against the New York Mets. Verrett will step in to make his fifth spot start of the season. Giolito allowed no runs and just one hit on 45 pitches, 29 of them strikes.
