House GOP ask US attorney to investigate Clinton over emails

FBI Director James Comey told Chaffetz’s panel during his appearance last week that his agency’s review of Clinton’s handling of classified materials and use of a private email server did not cover her congressional testimony.

The lawmakers’ letter was addressed to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Channing D. Phillips.

“In light of those contradictions, the Department should investigate and determine whether to prosecute Secretary Clinton for violating statutes that prohibit perjury and false statements to Congress, or any other relevant statutes”, the letter continues.

Chaffetz also sent a letter to Comey seeking the investigative file from the probe. The Department of Justice followed through with Comey’s recommendation, saying she would not be charged.

Republican lawmakers aren’t giving up on Hillary Clinton’s private email server yet.

Trump’s plan “is not a fix at all; it’s an ideological crusade” that “would gut the VA of the resources needed to provide high-quality, coordinated care”, said Bishop Garrison, an Army veteran and Clinton adviser.

The official start of the Republican National Convention is this upcoming Monday.

Clinton said last week that she exchanged emails with about 300 people, mostly at the State Department, who were experienced with handling classified information. Judge Robert E. Payne said Monday the winner-take-all portion of the state law was unconstitutional and can’t be enforced.

However, Payne did not rule on a requirement by the RNC that all Virginia delegates must vote for the primary victor, citing a lack of jurisdiction over the party – meaning the legal victory may be only symbolic.

In 2014, the House Ways and Means Committee sent a criminal referral to then-Attorney General Eric Holder regarding IRS employee Lois Lerner’s actions as part of an investigation into whether the IRS had subjected certain groups to extra scrutiny due to their political leanings.

In the Clinton email case, Republicans plan to continue to raise questions about her suitability and whether the Obama administration is trying to protect her presidential bid.

After a year-long investigation of Clinton’s emails, the FBI recommended that no criminal charges be brought against the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee for the November 8 election.

Trump’s supporters had opposed Correll at a hearing Payne held last week in Richmond ― proof, Waters said, that the Trump campaign understands that delegates will dump Trump if it’s allowed.

Comey acknowledged, however, that several of Clinton’s statements about the arrangement weren’t accurate.

“Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is weak, ineffective, pandering, and as proven by her recent email scandal, which was an embarrassment not only to her, but to the entire nation as a whole, she’s either a liar or grossly incompetent”, Trump said. “There were a small number of portion markings”. He also suggested that Clinton may not have understood that some of her emails were marked classified.

However, Comey said his investigators had found no evidence that Clinton lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about the email matter.
