Hull’s Bruce ‘flattered’ to be linked with England job
In the Guardian, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce’s chances of taking the England job are said to be boosted by his willingness to help the FA mentor a young assistant.

McGregor, 34, featured on 44 occasions for Hull during their Championship campaign last season but it was an injury to his back that forced him to miss the play-offs, which the club emerged from to clinch promotion.
Hull City defender Alex Bruce and goalkeeper Allan McGregor have been ruled out for between four and six months with “severe injuries”.
“It’s obviously a blow to lose both of them”.
It was hoped that a period of rest and rehabilitation over the summer would see the former Rangers number one return to fitness for Hull’s opening Premier League game against Champions Leicester City on the 13th of August, however boss Bruce has today suggested that it will be fortunate if McGregor appears at the KC stadium before Christmas.
“Other than that, the players have come back and all look in good nick”.
Hull City manager Steve Bruce says he is flattered to be linked with the vacant England national team job, but reveals it is all speculation at this stage. ‘Whether or not it goes any further than that… To manage your country, there’s no bigger job.
“With the players that we let go at the end of last season, and the two injuries we’ve subsequently picked up, we might now be looking at five or six new faces”, Bruce said.
Adding his preference was for an English manager. All these lads do their coaching badges, A licences, pro licences, then in my opinion the top of the FA should be English.
“I’m disappointed not to have brought in Nick because I think he had something to offer and would have been a good addition to the squad”, said the Tigers boss.

“It’s highly flattering and I’m honoured to be linked with it”.
