Girl fights off intruder who snatched her from her bed
Officers from the El Cajon Police Department responded to the condominium complex in the 1300 block of Hawk Lane with a K9 unit from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department after the mother of the girl called police to report the incident.

“I’m just relieved that this is the story I get to tell – that she’s in my home, and she’s here safe”, her mother told KSWB.
“You go like this – Ha!” said an 8-year-old El Cajon, California, girl as she threw a punch with a slightly closed fist.
The girl’s mother told Fox 5 San Diego that the little girl and the man were nearly to the bottom of the stairwell when she applied pressure to his throat, using a technique she learned in Kung Fu class.
It wasn’t until after the prowler ran that the girl finally alerted her parents, who were terrified thinking they were unaware an intruder was lurking in their kids’ bedroom.
The girl’s mother told KTLA sister station KSWB in San Diego that her child was picked up by the man and – as he carried her down the stairs – she struck him in the neck area.
The victim was not injured and nothing was taken from the home.
She called the incident “proof” that self-defense classes can be needed.
“An unidentified suspect had removed the window screen from a ground floor window that was open and made entry into their condo”, police Lt. Rob Ransweiler said.
He walked upstairs to the second floor bedroom the girl shared with her 6-year-old brother, who was also asleep.
The mother said her daughter described him as smelling like garbage. She’s learned some tools that will last her a lifetime, she’s okay, but she’s going to be safe because we’re going to protect her even more now, ‘ she said.

El Cajon officers searched for the suspect with a police dog, but were unable to locate him.
