Ronaldo, Griezmann named in Euro 2016 team of the tournament

Antoine Griezmann brushed off comparisons with French football legend Michel Platini after his two goals sent the host nation into the final of Euro 2016.

Despite that, Griezmann failed to bag a goal in the final as France lost in extra-time to Portugal and Leboeuf thinks the forward lacked the consistency of players such as Pepe and Gareth Bale.

Antoine Griezmann has vowed to use the disappointment of back-to-back final defeats as fuel to “make him stronger”.

The 25-year-old Atletico Madrid star finished the competition with six goals and two assists after a breakthrough competition at global level.

Turns out Pies, like several other sites, got all confuzzled by the same press statement emitted by UEFA in which they appeared to ordain Payet as their player of the tournament by way of finishing on top of their special “performance barometer”.

Despite the celebration being second nature when he’s with Atletico, the excitement of scoring for his country at Euro 2016 meant he forget to show off his moves following his goal against Albania and his first against Ireland in the last 16.

Griezmann’s teammate and West Ham player Dimitri Payet found a place in the team for his instrumental role in France’s campaign, but that was surprisingly France’s contribution to the team.

Griezmann scored 6 goals with 2 assists in the Euros this summer, and he was named the Player of the Tournament.

Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches, meanwhile, was named as the tournament’s best young player.

All those images must have been on his mind during the semi-final but his feelings after the final whistle were all about pride and joy.
