Although the event is reserved for Amazon’s paying Prime subscribers only – the online store says non-paying members can still get involved for free, by signing up to its 30-day free trial.

Instead of waiting until November, Amazon is bringing Black Friday to the summer with their second annual Prime Day.

The event will include deals on everything from TVs to toothbrushes and will be especially good on technology items.

On Tuesday, some customers were reporting difficulty with the checkout and Amazon said it is working to resolve the issue.

This year the sale is for Amazon Prime members only.

Other retailers, including Macy’s, Kohl’s, Sears, Toys R Us and J.C. Penney, are touting deals this week even if they do not mention Amazon or Prime Day by name.

Hoping to cash in on the media buzz around Amazon (AMZN) Prime Day, big retailers such as Wal-Mart (WMT), Target (TGT) and Gap (GPS) are promoting big discounts and free shipping.

Actual deals have not yet been confirmed – they will be announced tomorrow and updated and added to as the day goes on. The 2015 event was the biggest global sales day ever for the company, according to Amazon.

More to Watch – Prime members will find unbelievable deals on some of today’s top rated TV series and popular blockbuster films to rent or purchase and instantly stream on Amazon Video.

Websites like Walmart, eBay, BestBuy and FreeShipping.com are all taking aim at Amazon’s Prime Day.

Walmart, which challenged Amazon a year ago with its own summertime specials, is once again taking on the e-tailer, offering free shipping with no minimum purchase on all online orders for five days, starting Monday.
