The focus on Kansas follows developments Monday in IN, where Democrats were applauding news that former Sen.

Media organizations reported that former U.S. Senator Evan Bayh, who also has served as Indiana’s governor, would replace Hill on the Democratic ballot in the November 8 election.
Just the prospect of Bayh entering the race prompted the University of Virginia Center for Politics to flip its election prediction for Indiana’s Senate contest from “likely Republican” to “toss-up”. National Republican Senatorial Committee Executive Director Ward Baker made the following statement regarding the Indiana Senate race: “Hoosiers will have a very clear choice in November”. Evan, that’s his son, was very important in the state. Todd Young is a Marine who has fought to protect IN values, create jobs, and stood up against unsafe policies like Obamacare and cap-and-trade.
“There’s definitely some concern and it’s definitely a shocker”, Gentry said “We’ll see how things go”. “Moreover, Bayh has enjoyed good favorability ratings from Hoosiers”. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because they will not be released publicly until later Monday. That move left the decision in the hands of the party, who selected Brad Ellsworth to replace Bayh. And now Coats is retiring a second time, so the seat is again available, and Bayh wants it.
He believes the Senate race against Young “will be much tighter” with Bayh as the Democratic candidate.
Former Senator Evan Bayh, Democrat of IN, is expected to announce that he will run to reclaim the job he gave up IN 2010, a move that could strengthen the Democrats’ prospects of winning majority control of the Senate IN November. “I guess winning in the primary doesn’t mean as much as expediency and opportunity”. “And I think that will be a target that Republicans will hit pretty hard”.
Losco said the Republicans will not be easy on Bayh during the projected Senate campaign. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) announced his retirement plans, creating an unexpected open U.S. Senate race in Indiana.
The circumstances of Bayh taking over Hill’s candidacy mid-election is a bit odd because it’s the opposite of what happened back in 2010. He’ll start out with a nine-million-dollar war chest left over from his past campaigns.
Young’s campaign says Bayh cashed in “with insurance companies and influence peddlers as a gold-plated lobbyist” after not seeking a third Senate term in 2010. He also said Bayh would be “nothing more than a rubber stamp for Hillary Clinton should both of them be elected”. Bayh had previously resisted overtures to get involved in the race. “It helps to start out with name recognition”, he said. Baron Hill is known in the southern part of the state, which he represented- but he’s not really known statewide. Birch Bayh, Evan’s father. “There are very few names in IN that have any higher name recognition”.
That action came after CNN reported that Bayh was prepared to run for the seat.

Because Mr. Hill was already certified as the Democratic candidate, he filed formal paperwork to withdraw from the race and notified the Indiana Democratic Party, which must now choose a candidate to replace him. He cited a disadvantage in fundraising but did not mention Evan Bayh.
