Taylor Swift tops Forbes list
Actor Dwayne Johnson wrestled the highest-paid actor spot from Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr, earning $64.5 million, largely thanks to the billion-dollar Fast and Furious franchise and the surprising success of 2015’s San Andreas movie. A Forbes estimate from last month pegged Swift’s net worth at $250 million.

While the biggest buzz around Taylor Swift of late has been about a certain someone named Tom Hiddleston, here’s something that will put you right back into that love-hate relationship with Ms Swift.
This year, while Perry spent time campaigning for Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, Swift smashed records with her worldwide 1989 tour in 2015 (to support her record of the same name), which featured a galaxy of her celebrity pals invited on stage to perform at almost every stop. In fact, Katy Perry earned $135 million past year – compared to Taylor Swift’s $80 million.
Swift’s earnings came from her 1989 world tour, along with sponsorship deals with brands including Diet Coke, Keds and Apple.
Taylor’s album for the tour, 1989, was a massive hit and sold over 5 million units just in the US. Had they stayed together she would have easily kept the title.
You can not be surprised that Taylor earns this much, despite the fact she comes nowhere near boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s $300 million pay cheque from a year ago (that number still floors us every time we think about it). Last year’s highest-earning muso, Katy Perry, who took home $179 million.
Adele also scored highly, coming in at ninth place thanks to earnings of $80.5 million.
Forbes made the decision to feature Kim Kardashian on the cover of the magazine containing the list despite the fact that she was only number 42 with $51 million earned. She was on the number 8 spot on the list past year, with a gross income for $80 millions.
Swift doubled the $80 million she earned the previous year making this last year her most financially successful to date.
