Boy reels in great white shark while fishing off Cape Cod
Great white sharks have been spotted in increasing numbers in recent years around Cape Cod.

A little boy fishing off Cape Cod in MA hooked something bigger than expected this weekend, CBS Boston reported.
Blake White, 6, was out fishing with his parents, grandparents and 8-year-old brother Saturday afternoon off Rock Harbor in Cape Cod Bay when he hooked a sea creature his parents initially thought to be a large striped bass.
Blake’s father, Lars White, said he took hold of the pole, but the fish wouldn’t budge.
“Well, I did pass the rod to my dad because it was too heavy”, Blake said.
“I tried to catch a smaller fish, but instead I caught a shark”.
“I saw something moving like insane”, Blake White told the Times.
“There was no way we were going to be able to get it on board”.
White’s father estimated the shark was about 10 to 12 feet long. The hook had pierced one of the shark’s pectoral fins. They followed it for about an hour and a half northwest before it surfaced and they realized it was a great white shark.
“We’re going to need a bigger boat”.
Lars sent photos of the shark to the Atlantic Great White Shark Conservancy who confirmed it was a great white.
