The Game starts fundraiser for Arkansas police officer

As division between police officers and community still skate upon a slippery slope, one Arkansas cop has won the hearts of the Black community and further more a support system in rapper The Game’s eldest son, Harlem. After finding Norman online, Harlem launched a GoFundMe page for the officer. The ring, he said, was sent to him by one of his now 1 million Instagram followers and represents the bond and brotherhood of being a police officer – something in which he takes great pride. Yes, wigs – anything for the kids.

Norman said he hoped the attention he has received will inspire other departments to develop practices similar to his own.

Norman and the department are challenging other departments across the nation to engage their communities, and communities to reach out to police departments with their own needs.

One of da good ones.

In the wake of the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and five police officers in Dallas, Norman’s bright light is an exemplary demonstration of positive interactions between police officers and the communities that they serve.

His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.

In 2015, rapper Killer Mike noticed Norman’s Instagram account and contacted CNN about Norman’s work.

And in just one day, he managed to raise over $50,000 for Officer Norman.

“I was surprised. Surprised to know that a rapper, big time rapper from LA, was actually following the work we do here in North Little Rock”, Norman adds. This man is out of his patrol auto every day. “He is taking pictures with other peoples” families that are black (and) with white kids in the community. And North Little Rock is no easy place to police. “‘ I would encourage more police and more people to look at what this officer is doing in particular because he’s doing something right”.

Good morning world. So as I told you yesterday, I had conversations with my oldest son @hvrlemtaylor about good cops & bad ones & he did his research & found officer @tnorman23’s page & i was touched by how active he is in the black community where he polices.

Harlem’s GoFundMe page for Officer Norman is still accepting donations. The Game said he and his son were touched by his mission, and have started a GoFundMe to raise money for Officer Norman to “continue his mission strengthening the community”.

Closer to home, Officer, Tommy Norman, is known for bridging the gap between the community and police. “He has changed the way he approaches the community he patrols and is committed to building strong relationships with the residents …” The page says the money will be used to purchase and deliver items such as snacks, drinks and toys to keep the truck of Norman’s vehicle stocked for kids and members of the community. The Game took to Instagram to share his plan explaining the idea came about from a talk he had with his son about the police.
