TVLine reports that Duane Henry has been promoted to series regular for NCIS season fourteen, while Jennifer Esposito is joining the cast, also in a regular role. Another “NCIS” update is about Sarah Clarke who will not be reprising her role as Special Agent Tess Monroe. Esposito – who played Jackie Curatola on “Blue Bloods” – was dropped from the show in October 2012, after the Brooklyn native demanded a reduced workload because of her ailment.

It’s too soon to tell whether Esposito’s new character Alex is anything like Jackie but based on her description (“sharp wit, quick mind and vast talent as a federal agent”) it’s very likely that Esposito’s new role on NCIS will once again fit her like a glove.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg happily welcomes Esposito to their growing family. According to him she perfectly fits the character they have in mind.

This is the second major addition to the show announced this offseason, as former “That 70’s Show” star Wilmer Valderrama has also been cast as a new regular. “She embodies everything that we hoped for in the character of Quinn and we can’t wait to have her come be a part of our team”.

With the departure of Michael Weatherly as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, it will be fun to see how these new characters interact with Gibbs, Abby, McGee, Bishop, Ducky, Palmer and Director Vance.
