“We actually just finished [the extended cut] so it’s about another 15 minutes longer, but I will also include a lot of the deleted scenes and extra material that we have on the DVD.”

Fans of the original franchise may see some familiar faces – human and paranormal – pop up as cameos, as well as gadgets such as the Ecto-1 auto and proton packs. Feig confirmed that the main focus of the “Ghostbusters” film would be on the character portrayed by Kristen Wiig. When ghosts invade Manhattan, Gilbert and Yates team up with Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon), a nuclear engineer, and Patty Tolan (Jones), a subway worker, to save the world from a mysterious and powerful demon known as Rowan (Neil Casey), who can exercise control over human forms.
McKinnon has been a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live since 2012, which is how Feig arrived at the larger-than-life Jones – or maybe it was fate.
Battling the supernatural is men’s work, according to some narrow-minded internet commentators who created a backlash when it was announced that the Ghostbusters reboot would be lead by an all-female cast.
In response to some critics, director Paul Feig has said that haters should watch first the movie and then criticize it.In regards to the sexist negative critics the trailer has received, Feig was impressed by how closed-minded people can be. That does remind me of the boys because they were old friends and they had worked together a lot too.
But how do you cast four unique comedians with four incomparable styles and honour a pop-culture icon at the same time? Feig talked about the process of making the movie.
“So we came up with our own”.
This weekend, one of the producers of Ghostbusters declared the franchise would be “endless.”
A welcome new franchise is clearly being set up here though and it is great to see numerous original cast members back for cameo parts in a number of guises as a show of support.
And, as far as the original ensemble are concerned, it worked. I wanted to be part of it to really show my support to them.
Of their characters’ friendship, she says: “It’s a little bumpy in the beginning, but you can tell the history is there”.
“There is no quit in these girls”, he said.
For all the scrutiny, hand-wringing and vitriol, you’d think it was about a presidential campaign, not just a kindhearted comedy based on a 32-year-old idea that features four amusing women instead of four amusing men.

Finally, The Globe and Mail said: “For all its minor faults, Ghostbusters is glorious fun – two hours of wit and wights, the ideal summer cinema that the rest of Hollywood just can’t seem to wrap its head around lately”.
