Giancarlo Stanton bashes his way to Home Run Derby victory

The concessionaire at Petco Park expects to sell 24,000 hot dogs, 16,000 orders of chicken fingers, 18,000 pounds of French fries, 98,000 peanuts and 45,000 bottles of water at the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game.

After last night’s record-shattering performance by Giancarlo Stanton, the Miami Marlins are finding themselves in a bit of a tight spot regarding a marketing promotion the team made, according to an article by ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Giancarlo Stanton didn’t hit the sign, but he earned the free beer.

Stanton, who is not on the NL roster for Tuesday night after a disappointing season batting.233 with just 20 homers (although he has come into form lately), can defend his title at home next year when the Marlins host the All-Star Game.

Stanton’s longest shot was estimated at 497 feet.

The offer claimed that “each time G launches a home run out of Petco Park, we’ll knock a percentage point off future Marlins tickets”.

“Being on the West Coast and taking the flight out here just for this”, Stanton said.

“That is where I got my childhood memories, watching the Home Run Derby as a kid”, said Stanton, who grew up in California. “But most the time I stuck at 80-90%. I had a blast”. He hit six home runs in the 2014 contest in Minnesota when there was a different format with no clock. “But most the time I stuck at 80-90 percent”.

“I knew I could do it endurance wise”, he explained. Stanton and Frazier were both chosen for the Home Run Derby without being chosen for the All-Star Game.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t look back to see where they were landing”, said Shine. “In a sense, I owe him a huge thank you for not only myself but for my family and hopefully I can maybe sway somebody in the right direction as well, like he did for me”. “I’d like to return the favor”. With a $325 million over 13 years, he has the biggest contract in baseball, so there are some things to comfort him while he waits for an All-Star invite next year. His new hitting coach is home run king Barry Bonds.

Frazier hit 13 in the final round. The White Sox third baseman won in Cincinnati past year when he was a member of the Reds, meaning the hometown hero got the win in front of his fans. He is the second player in the history of the Derby to win the event without being an All-Star, joining Yoenis Cespedes in 2013.
