Green, a former Michigan State standout and current member of the Golden State Warriors, is alleged to have struck another man.

The report also revealed that Green was “arrested at 2:28 a.m. near the intersection of Grand River and Abbot”. Police took Green into custody for allegedly slapping a fan that had been taunting him outside Conrad’s Grill in downtown East Lansing, Michigan. However, he is still facing a maximum of 93 days in a prison and a $500 fine if he is convicted. He started 23 games in the Warriors’ playoff run to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games. He played four seasons for Michigan State under coach Tom Izzo.
Draymond Green’s scheduled appearance at Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colorado, may have come at an inconvenient time considering the events of this past weekend.
Green was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault early Sunday morning. Green is set to join Team USA in August at the Rio Olympics.
Green is scheduled for arraignment July 20 – in the midst of training camp with Team USA – but his attorney, James Heos, reportedly waived that right, sparing Green from appearing in person.
The NBA isn’t as punishing as the National Football League or MLB for offseason crimes, so Green and especially the Golden State Warriors don’t have anything to worry about, unless more ugly details from this mess rise to the surface.
The good news for Green is that both Golden State and the National Basketball Association unlikely suspend him for the incident since he is just facing a minor charge.
Michigan Police told ESPN that Green was released with a $200 bond. The Warriors said the team was collecting information about the incident and declined further comment “until we have a better understanding of the situation”.

Draymond Green averaged a career-high 14 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists last season which landed him a place in the All NBA Second Team and All Defense First Team.
