We are very aware of the current tensions that exist between police and some members of our communities and we remain resolute in our commitment to continue to build trust and ensure that public confidence in OR policing remains strong.

Lorne Ahrens, 48, worked with the Sheriff’s Department for 10 years at the Lancaster station and the Lennox station, not far from LAX. “We need to hear from you'”.
One post from his stepbrother, Dylan Martinez, read: “No father should have to bury his son”. The Dallas Police Department is handling travel arrangements for Ahrens’ family.
“We saw him as an equal, even when he was just starting out”, McWaid said.
“You were his heroes in life”, he said.
Despite the fact that the 5 officers died in the line duty by of protecting the protesters, the Black Lives Matter movement decided that protests against police should rise to the point of shutting down main highways in several states.
Before moving to Texas, Ahrens worked as a law enforcement technician for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 11 years, according to ABC 7. “You could tell it was his passion to be a police officer”.
Zamarripa was a veteran of the Navy who served three tours with the military police in Iraq, the Washington Post reports. He was identified as 25-year-old Micah Johnson.
Thompson was 43 years old. “Thank you”, DART said in a statement.
“We are saddened by the loss of the dedicated officers in Dallas – one of whom was a former member of this agency – and also the wounding of the other officers”, Wayne County sheriff Benny Napoleon said in a statement on Friday. She wrote a letter addressing her son’s death.
“She’s got four boys who she just wants to be able to be peacefully out here in the world”, Williams said.
The work partners of the slain officers also spoke.
Friends recall a fun-loving man. “He was a great officer doing those things that we expect of police officers and this particular case doing what he was supposed to be doing monitoring the protest as well as taking care of our customers at our transit center”.
“They basically told him that he had the job if he could make it to Dallas by Monday”, Mark Allen, who was in the same academy class as Ahrens at the Dallas Police Department.
“I made a rule when I had kids that I would never leave my house without telling them I love them and kissing them, so I’m just going to make sure that I keep that ’til the day I die”, Mata said.
Gretchen Rocha came to the Dallas police force by way of the farm.
“At 6’5″, he was a gentle giant, he was friendly and helpful”, said Fred Arnold, owner of American Family Funding and Santa Clarita resident who attended High School with Aherns.
The 23-year-old was wounded by shrapnel, but the family did not have details on the extent of her injuries.
“The outpouring of love from people … is just handsome”, she said.
