One Direction earn £85m but Taylor Swift tops celebrity rich list
Taylor Swift has topped this year’s Forbes annual celebrity 100 list and has been crowned the highest-earning celebrity in the world.

Swift’s payday comes courtesy of her massive 1989 World Tour. She also has endorsement deals with Apple, Diet Coke, and Keds.
Swift surpassed ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, who claimed the No. 21 spot with $63 million, by a almost threefold margin. This year she earned $51 million to land at No. 42 on FORBES’ Celebrity 100 list; 40% of her yearly paycheck came from the game.
There’s no Blank Space in Taylor Swift’s bank account. The rest of the top five are One Direction (no. 2, $110 million), author James Patterson (no. 3, $93 million), Cristiano Ronaldo and Dr. Phil McGraw (both tied at no.4, $88 million). On the other hand, she hasn’t made quite as much as last year’s top-earning celebrity; boxing champion Floyd “The Money’ Mayweather scooped $300 million in 2015 following his Manny Pacquiao fight”.
Swift’s earnings crossed other popular musicians including Adele ($80.5 million), Madonna ($76.5 million), Rihanna ($75 million) and Bruce Springsteen ($60.5 million).
It’s no surprise Tom Hiddleston has been catching rides in Taylor Swift’s auto and private jet – the singer is, unsurprisingly, the top celebrity earner of 2016, according to Forbes.
Boston University alum Howard Stern came in at No. 7 with $85 million. Jay Z pulled in $53.5 million without a single album release or tour; the rap mogul boosted his personal wealth through his music streaming service Tidal, entertainment company Roc Nation and luxury cognac and champagne brands.

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart galloped from number 95 previous year, to number 6 in the latest list with a whopping $87.5 million, which makes him the first comedian to out-earn Jerry Seinfeld.
